Flynn Bundy Interview So you’re the newest recruit to the Drawing Boards team, how did this come about?
Just met a few of the guys at coops one day then got a call a few weeks later asking if i wanted to come on the outback tour, it was great, saw an eagle as big as a child.
I hear it didn’t take long for them to give you nicknames, how did you get the names ‘pussywillow’ and ‘big flip’?
Haha, I think bigflip stuck after bigfliping this gap in the burbs of Brisbane, a pussywillow is common name given to smaller species of willows and swallows (birds).
I have no idea how this relates, but im strangely intrigued.
How’s it feel jumping onto a new team and having to film for a part in ‘through trial and error’ and a part for the Drawing Boards DVD?
Great, everyone is super friendly and the filming is coming along well, everyone hypes each other up at spots so it makes it really fun to go out and just film whatever.
Where’d you grow up skating? And tell us about it?
Mullumbimby (north nsw) mostly made trips to Ballina and Byron bay quiet a bit, mostly just skated a basketball court with a box and a few rails, we didn't really have much at all and the police used to give us tickets for just standing on our boards in town, but they built a skatepark after a while which was amazing, just remember jumping the fence as they were building it at night just to skate a quarter pipe and a flatbank.
So you’re a study bandit, what are you planning to achieve out of it when you finish?
Bit of a study bandit at the moment just doing nerdy things at university to balance everything out, defiantly would like a job out of it at the end as some of its really interesting stuff,
I get compared to a robot by friends a lot.
Are you going to keep skating once you’ve finished uni?
Thinking about pulling a Jereme Rogers actually, i've been told i've got that jay-z flow. Ha, but yeah i'll be skating to work in my suit.
What’s your favorite colored animal?
It's close but i'm going to have to say, Michael Jordan.
And what’s your favorite thing about being on the Drawing Boards team?
Mikky's car, Ivan and Jacks octopus props, Donny's turtle eating KFC. Just hanging out and skating with everyone on the team, having good times.
How does it feel to be part of the highest recommended skateboard show in the country?
Awesome.
What’s your favorite graphic and why?
Crowded logo, its just simple, can throw stickers on there. Although the new Totem Heads graphic looks really good. |
